At the same time, the Head of State announced that construction of a new college dedicated to the community will begin immediately. The institution will sit on a six-acre parcel of land in Ruai and is expected to cost Sh120 million, with completion projected within one year.

President William Ruto has rolled out a targeted plan to create more employment and expand learning opportunities for the Akorino community, directing the allocation of 50 extra teaching positions in the next Teachers Service Commission recruitment while confirming the construction of a Sh120 million college in Ruai.

Addressing congregants during a Thanksgiving service at State House, Nairobi, on Sunday, the President said the decision to increase the number of teaching slots was meant to give qualified Akorino candidates a fair chance at joining the public education workforce. He said the move forms part of a wider government push to ensure inclusion and support communities through professional opportunities.

Ruto commended teachers from the community, saying they have demonstrated strong capability in the profession and deserve more chances to serve.

"Akorino teachers are very sharp, and because of that, I am allocating 50 additional slots today for your children to be employed as teachers," Ruto said.

At the same time, the Head of State announced that construction of a new college dedicated to the community will begin immediately. The institution will sit on a six-acre parcel of land in Ruai and is expected to cost Sh120 million, with completion projected within one year.

"This week, we will begin construction of your college, and next year we shall hold this meeting at the completed college in Ruai," he stated.

He noted that the government has already issued the title deed and marked out the project site, allowing works to start without delay as a contractor is set to move in.

To manage the project, Ruto said a trustee framework will be put in place bringing together senior government officials. Higher Education Principal Secretary Beatrice Inyangala will help shape the academic structure, while Attorney General Dorcas Oduor will provide legal guidance where required.

The planned college will include modern facilities such as a music production studio to support talent development within the community. In addition, works on an access road to the site are already underway to improve connectivity.

The announcement builds on an earlier pledge by the government to establish the Akorino Africa Bible College, first made during the Akorino National Prayers Conference held in Nakuru in June 2024. At the time, Ruto committed Sh50 million towards the project, which is expected to serve as a centre for biblical studies and leadership training.
